RENDER UNTO CAESAR

George Offerman

I was on Jason Hommel’s site silverstockreport.com reading one of his latest entries titled “Give to Caesar: Give to God” posted on July 28th and the subsequent reader’s response posted on August 6th. In this particular posting, Mr. Hommel does a fairly detailed Bible study on the question of kings, government, their roles in our lives and what we are morally obliged to do, concerning the subject of whether we are morally obligated to pay taxes or not. (I recommend all the readers check this out for themselves). Mr. Hommel raises many valid points about the role of government in general, and the role of our government in the United States in particular, and what our role as Christians ought to be.

Mr. Hommel seems to answer many of the mainstream churches allegations that as Christians we are ‘obligated’ to submit to authority and the churches identify the authority as our current government. This is based upon the Romans 13 discourse about proper behavior and obligations, but Paul in this particular series of passages, is referring to Godly authority, and is careful to not use the term ‘government’. Paul would not contradict, and has not contradicted any of the scriptures which clearly state that we are to ‘discern’ the nature of the law, and are obligated to disobey man made laws that violate God’s law.

How is it that the churches, who are all exempt from paying taxes with their 501 c 3 status, can preach to us about our need to pay taxes? If the churches are tax exempt because they represent God, then shouldn’t we, by extension be exempt as well? It would seem by the way that most of the churches are acting (including the Catholic Church and the USCCB) they are more in line with the state’s party line than that of God. The Church is highly motivated to not anger the state or to contradict their policies, regardless of how ungodly, due to losing this coveted status. This violated the whole purpose of their existence, which is to preach the unvarnished Gospel to a lost world.

Just because the Church has sold out on its beliefs, does not give the believer the right or obligation to sell out on the beliefs and tenets of the faith. The Church is not taking their proper role of moral leader in any fashion that demonstrates they actually believe in the Gospel message. This makes them no different than the misguided and corrupt state we live in, and they are unwilling and unable to discern truth from the lies, and want to operate in ‘peace and harmony’ with the sate (read tolerance and collusion). If we can choose to forgo tithing to unworthy organizations like the church, we sure have the moral and Biblical authority to deny money to a godless state.

Not paying taxes is one of the most ‘horrendous’ crimes against the state a citizen can commit. Look at the severity of the law, and one can only conclude that killing a legalized child killer is the only thing worse a citizen can do. The consequences for not paying taxes are severe, and the only way this can work as an effective strategy for the pro life movement, is to have large numbers, and have the pro life movement as a whole (outside of the Churches purview) adopt this and support this platform in totality. It is a strategy that should be very seriously considered, and it will take incredible dedication to follow through on this. I do believe it will reap dividends that we cannot even begin to imagine, but courage it will take.

I am not there yet in my courage to do this, but it is an eventual goal of mine. I do fear judgment day, and having the Father tell me that convenience and this life’s desires got in the way of saving his children. We all need to do a gut check and decide what doing little for the children is really worth. The more I see of the destruction of all that is good in this country, the more I believe the price we will pay for doing nothing is greater than even jail. We shall soon see if this is true or not.

DAY OF THE VAMPIRES

George Offerman

In what ought to be considered the Vampires true high unholy day (October 31 does not hold a candle to this day) the undead will perform their annual ritual and suck a very large amount of green blood out of the living, and begin to redistribute it to their legions of undead recipients, to assure their allegiance this November when the undead recipients go to the bone box,.. er... ballot box. To add insult to injury to the living, the Value Added Tax (VAT) is the hot topic in the current debate, and it is on top of the already progressive (aggressive) tax structure. Evidently, the reduced amount of green blood the vampires received this past year of recession, must have scared them into trying to kill the living instead of maintaining the near comatose state many are in now.

It is no accident that 50% of the households in this country pay NO Federal or State income taxes, and many get the Earned Income Credit on top of not paying taxes. This is a very secure voting block, and what incentive is there for those who fall into this category to change the status quo? (This same group however, has NO difficulty wanting more goodies and having others pay for them) When the majority benefits, the majority gets what it wants. For those who have great hopes in the tea party, or resurrected Republicant party, things will not change too much until there is the environment when making the difficult choices is permissible by the majority.

Those who are subjected to the income taxes have little to no recourse for themselves. The premier undead Demovamp Obama is allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire, along with the temporary elimination of the estate tax (tax on death, their favorite) has increased the Mediscare and Medicoolaid taxes, eliminated the write offs for out of pocket medical expenses (go figure that one), and wants to add another 5.4% for those making over a million per year. When totaled up, some will be paying 70% of their income in taxes. The Demovamps see that as fair. Question for the Premier undead overlord Obama: Can you name one broke person, street person (or you for that matter) who created a job? Millionaires create jobs. Small business people create jobs. But why do it if the undead Demovamps take the booty? What will then happen? Answer: the productive will stop being productive. Then let’s see where the demovamps get their fill of green blood.

This day is a nightmare for the living, as they are required to hand over a large part of the fruit of their labors, because they happen to be guilty of the crime of ‘making too much money’. The undead like to use the lame statement that ‘luck smiled upon them’ and these vampires see it as their moral imperative to do an undead imitation of Robin Hood. However, one of these days, the vampires will do one too many raids on Sherwood Forest, and find nothing but charred stumps and carcasses of what used to be the productive. There needs to be an endpoint to the madness, but when and where is it?

The majority of those who pay for this madness could spend the money much more efficiently than this government, and most likely have great results. It is also largely true that those who pay the most in taxes, work the hardest, are better educated, and take the greatest risks. There is no luck involved in any of these factors, and it is very insulting that the undead, with little effort and no risk, take the hard earned money of the living, who put in a great effort with sometimes a great risk of losing everything in the process. Somehow, the undead believe they have a right to another’s labor, and believe those individuals should pay the taxes for the privilege of being in this country, and having the undead as overlords who see all and know all.

Yes, today is the high unholy day for the vampires, as they again remind those who make this country work, that their efforts are not appreciated, that they are seen as greedy, and ultimately, are the enemy to the undead recipients who keep reelecting the undead overlords to continue the flow of the green blood. This problem will never end until there is a recalibration of priorities and morals that focus on personal responsibility coupled with the fact that one’s labors truly are his, and that one has a right to determine what they do with the fruits of their labor. If too many of the undead are jealous of those that are successful, then do something about it. But do not try to steal their fruits, while justifying the complacency and entitled attitudes incorporated by the undead. It is time to break free from the undead and be rid of them once and for all.

DEEP BUDGET CUTS (BUT NOT FOR GOVERNMENT)

George Offerman

I dropped my car off for repairs, and while waiting for the loaner car, had an opportunity to watch the news for about 20 minutes. The Fox network was on, and they were interviewing a Cardiologist who was suing the Obama administration over Medicare cuts that will take effect on January 1 2010. This cardiologist reported that the cuts are in the range of 40%, yes, 40%. This cardiologist then went on to say how many of her colleagues are going to go out of business, will have to lay off thousands of support staff, and in effect, ration care by limiting, or eliminating outpatient services. This cardiologist went on to discuss how most of the doctors will have to become employees of hospitals, where the care is 3-4 times more expensive than outpatient office visits. The ‘unintended consequences’ of these cuts will in effect, run most of the private practitioners out of business, reduce the availability of advanced screenings, such as nuclear medicine, reduce the pool of talented doctors, by attrition, and send medicine back to the ‘sickness’ model (treat the problem once it appears), versus the wellness model (preventative care).

Now, how can one realistically believe that anyone can take a 40% hit on their budgets and stay viable? Only idiots that work in a Mid Atlantic City, who don’t know what they are doing, but believe they know better than those in the field, want to dictate how everyone else has to live, and BTW have NO BUSINESS BACKGROUND. I know for a fact, as everyone else does, that these same idiots would never cut their budget even 4%, yet 40%. They scream and yell if the budget does not go up by nearly 10% a year, and they promise each other a goodie basket if they vote certain ways to pass laws that cost way more than private services, and spend money no one has. Has it dawned on these idiots that the parasites (them, the elected officials) are killing the host (us, the taxpayer)?

Immediately after this story, the topic of tax increases came up, and the commentator mentioned that for the ‘first time ever’ the Democrats were thinking about a national sales tax. The caveat of course, was not eliminating income tax for a national sales tax, but incorporating this new tax on top of the income tax. This is already on top of the Bush tax cuts that are set to expire in 2010, and will effectively add at least 10% increase in income taxes for those who pay taxes. Obviously, the government ‘cannot’ live without their (our) money, but it is perfectly acceptable to cut those ‘evil’ physicians fees by 40%. No one who is remotely awake is fooled by any of this gamesmanship, and these politicians are placating the ‘something for nothing’ group on the backs of those who are actually producing real goods and services.

I had to leave the waiting area, as I found my blood pressure rising to very unhealthy levels. As I drove home, I could not help but notice the flashing sign put on the local toll road reminding all of us schleps that the tolls are going up by … 40% this January 1, 2010! This is on top of the 19% increase on my property taxes, and whatever increase in the payroll taxes once the Bush tax cuts have expired. (This is not even including the much underreported inflation rate of such unimportant and unnecessary things like … food, shelter, transportation) I got a 2.5% pay increase for this year, and by doing simple math (not learned in the public school systems), I will be further in the hole at the end of next year than I am now. Unlike the government, I am dealing with a real budget shortfall, and unlike the government, I can’t print my way out of it, or write bad checks to cover it. I have to deal with a real budget cut, and if I spend more than I have, and try to steal it from others like the government does, I would end up in jail.

It would actually be refreshing if the government did what all Americans are forced to do: live within their budgets, and learn to cut where there is waste. This would require politicians that are honest, and have the ability and gumption to say no to the insanity. Given insanity is the norm for Washington, D.C, the current crop of elected officials feels right at home.

Quick comment on Sen. Ben Nelson’s ‘slide’ in the polls. The election for his seat is 3 years out. Let’s see how he looks then. Also, why aren’t there 59 other Democrats with the same low numbers????
