ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER MARCH

Many in the pro life movement may see this posting as cynical, but this past march was another ‘ho hummer’ and seems to be another wasted effort concerning the need to get legalized child killing front and center in the political scene.  This is not to disparage in any way Nellie Grey’s efforts at putting this annual event together, but using her own words from a few years ago, even Ms. Grey is surprised these marches continue and this holocaust should have been ended decades ago.

It was the same old tired speeches from the same old tired speech givers, and more lies from the liars that call themselves politicians.  And the largest culprit of them all, the church give lip service to ending this holocaust, while simultaneously praising and making nice with the baby killers.  There was nothing of substance said from stage 2 days ago, and by the carnival atmosphere exhibited, one would have made the grave mistake in thinking they were at a party instead of marking an anniversary that has brought about more death than all the wars combined in this nation’s history.  One would have thought it would be more somber, and there would be an air of anger and resolve to end this scourge of the nation.

There are many who continue to promote incrementalism and believe it is the way to go.  These same folks do not seem to have a great deal of urgency about getting this holocaust ended, nor do they evoke much belief in the Living God’s ability to send a prophetic people as witness to the fallen world and have forgiveness and total healing in one fell swoop.  We are entering the 40^th year of this holocaust, and even Fr. Pavone has admitted in his latest blog entry, that 40 years has Biblical significance and that our efforts should reflect this.  But no one came forth with any concrete ways and plans for making this happen.  Just more of the same empty rhetoric and promises from politicians that will be broken at the first sight of resistance from the enemy.

It was good to see Fr. Pavone at the march, and he and I had a chance to speak for a few moments.  I will not divulge any of the conversation other than I told him of my support for him and a hope that his situation is resolved soon and completely.  I also had an opportunity to meet up with Rabbi Levin and spoke to him at length about an issue I will cover in greater detail in another post.  Overall though, for those who want to see an end to this holocaust, the speeches and the march itself left a lot to be desired, and did not move us any closer to ending this holocaust.

The vast majority of the people we attempted to address in recruiting for sidewalk counseling, letter writing, or really any activity that would force this issue front and center was met with significant resistance.  Asking many of these people for more time outside of this one day is like asking a fish to live outside of water.  On top of that, a good majority of the people at the march were adamantly against supporting Randal terry’s campaign and the showing of graphic ads during the super bowl.  It never ceases to amaze me that such a large gathering of supposed pro-lifers gets together for the supposed reason of ‘ending abortion’ yet is so resistant to participating in any activity that takes the battle to the enemy.

This, unfortunately, includes those who consider themselves leaders, and many of the clergy.  We were given more of a cold shoulder from the leadership and clergy than anyone, and the supposed pro-life press has given minimal to no coverage of this effort.  However, no other group is proffering any action that is garnering the attention in the MSM as these commercials are, and the prolife movement in general is distancing themselves as far as possible, while simultaneously pushing to their donor base that they are doing ‘great things’. 

I recollect a correspondence recently with a very well-known pro-life leader who made the claim that running unedited graphic commercials is as ‘noble, good and effective’ as other actions.  I am finding this statement, and thus, this individual at best, disingenuous, and at worst, a charlatan.  Either way, it is harming the message, and actually impeding any resolution and ending of legalized child killing in the near future.  It is really too bad that too many came to this march in a ‘festive’ mood, and see this as their main effort for the year.  Hence, there will be little to no change in the laws because the majority of those in the pro-life movement that consider themselves ‘activists’ already put in their efforts for 2012.  God help us all. 

MIRACLE IN MASSACHUSETTES

Now that it is official that Scott Brown won the election, we can look at this turn of events at least as an inspired event, if not truly a miracle. As late as last week, the most optimistic pundit was talking about a Brown loss, but strong showing, that will shake up the political establishment. I don’t think anyone really believed Mr. Brown was going to pull this off, given the history of Massachusetts electing very liberal Senators and Congressmen. Well, heaven may have had a very different view of things, and hearts were stirred to do the right thing.

Now, it is time to capitalize on this victory. It is time to take the offensive and begin to set the agenda and fight against the liberals. We need to act as if we have the truth on our side, because we do. We need to begin to hold the other elected officials throughout this nation accountable for their behaviors and voting records, and get rid of the pretenders and liars. It is time to set a national agenda, unify our side and get candidates willing to do whatever it takes to turn the tide of liberalism and get back to God given common sense government.

It ought to start with Senators like Lindsay Graham who made outrageous statements in his supporting Sotomayor for the Supreme Court. If one remembers, Senator Graham spoke about the ‘new republican’ and how the need to be in the middle is more important than ever. This is a huge change for the supposed pro life Senator, and demonstrates that the side that most have come to believe having championed the pro life cause have actually abandoned the cause for political expediency.

If we can have a miracle in Massachusetts, why not miracles in other places? Why is it that our side wants to settle once the crisis is past? Is it not becoming very obvious that the pro life movement is being played by many, if not most of the politicians? It is so important that those claiming to be pro life actually work to end legalized child killing in a consistent fashion, and take the punches they are elected to do. We, as a movement must hold them to this standard, and be willing to replace them if they don’t.

In the meantime, it is worth celebrating that the possibility of this hell care plan going down in flames as it deserves. It does demonstrate that God’s Grace still abounds and He will intervene when the motives and actions are in alignment. This election took it to the liberal establishment, and they now have to reconsider where they are taking this country. Obama is now forced to deal with this, and it is very possible that if hell care goes to the end it deserves, Obama will be seen in the future as someone who ultimately could not get the job done, and his party will have to look for true leadership elsewhere.

Much good can come out of this, but the window of opportunity will be open for a very brief moment. This is the day in which we must act, and act with courage and conviction, like most of our enemies do. It can start with the pro lifers and the tea party people getting a clear and concise agenda and using this week as a launch point to convince those in power that their jobs and careers are on the line. We have their attention now, and the right forces are running scared. The light has been shined onto the enemy’s camp, and they have been found bankrupt, morally, ethically, and fiscally.

Let us continue to call on the name of our Lord and Savior, and labor in the light. We have the truth on our side, and for the first time in quite a while, several forces are converging on our side that can create a huge opening in this battle. We need to jump in.

RIGHT TO LIFE MARCH, FR. JENKINS AND THE ND 88

It seems that Fr. Jenkins is going to go through with his ‘schizophrenic’ plan to simultaneously show his ‘pro life’ side by showing up at the Right to Life march, and continue to press charges against the ND 88 for the crime of… praying the Rosary on a Catholic campus. Here are some plans of people who happen to agree that Fr. Jenkins is demonstrating some cognitive dissonance in his rather interesting behaviors.

First, Lifesitenews.com (not to be confused with life news and Steven Ertelt) has co-sponsored a petition to free the ND 88 along with Human Life International (HLI) and the Thomas More Society, which is helping to fund the defense lead by Mr. Thomas Dixon. Press release follows:







January 13, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On Wednesday, a petition to "Free the Notre Dame 88" was launched. The petition is co-sponsored by Human Life International (HLI), the Thomas More Society and LifeSiteNews.com. It is addressed to University of Notre Dame President Fr. John Jenkins, and urges him publicly to ask that the charges against the 88 pro-lifers who were arrested on the Notre Dame campus in May of last year be dropped.

"During the Obama scandal controversy, Fr. Jenkins repeatedly assured us that he and Notre Dame are 100% pro-life. Yet, now he is refusing even this tiniest of olive branches to these 88 pro-lifers," said HLI President and Notre Dame Alumnus Fr. Thomas Euteneuer. "Asking that the charges be dropped will cost Fr. Jenkins absolutely nothing, but it could save the ND88 from a protracted trial process, and possible jail time. As long as this situation persists with Notre Dame’s cooperation, how can Fr. Jenkins possibly expect us to take him seriously?"

Members of the ND88 traveled to South Bend in May to protest the university's honoring of Obama (whom pro-lifers have called "the most pro-abortion President in U.S. history") at its commencement. In many cases their "protest" took the form of walking onto campus and praying and/or carrying pro-life signs. For this "crime" they were handcuffed, arrested, and thrown in prison.

At the same time, witnesses report that pro-Obama demonstrators were allowed to roam free throughout the campus.

Now the ND88 are facing charges of trespassing, with a maximum sentence of up to a year in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.

"Notre Dame seriously tarnished its image as a pro-life institution when it honored President Obama earlier this year," said Tom Brejcha, Chief Counsel for the Thomas More Society, which is representing the ND88. "However, it is not too late for the university to restore its pro-life reputation. The first step in that direction would be to stop the persecution of these pro-life heroes by asking that the charges be dropped."

While Fr. Jenkins has responded to concerned pro-lifers by claiming that Notre Dame does not have the power to ask that the charges be dropped, Brejcha called such claims "flatly wrong."

"They always have the power to ask," he said, adding that Notre Dame's asking, "would have great weight with the prosecutor."

Brejcha said, however, that despite repeated requests Fr. Jenkins has continued to refuse to do so.

"It is important for pro-lifers to let Fr. Jenkins know that we have not forgotten what happened on his campus last May," said Brejcha. "We have not forgotten, and we will not forget as long as the ND88 are being forced to pay such a steep price simply for being pro-life."

AND NOW THE VICTORY:
On December 3, 2009, attorneys for the ND 88, Tom Dixon and Tom Brejcha, of the Thomas More Law Society, had hearings before Judge Manier. Many weeks ago our attorneys asked this judge, assigned to our case, to recuse herself, and she repeatedly refused to do so.

The pro-life attorneys were permitted to take their pleadings to the Appellate Court. We wanted this judge removed from our case because her rulings from an earlier case in St. Joseph County, that dealt with free speech rights at the abortuary in South Bend, were so afoul of the appropriate legal standards as to create evidence of her bias in the current cases. Also Judge Manier has ties to Notre Dame-- as her husband is on staff at the university-- which certainly should be seen as a conflict of interest.

On January 6th-- Feast of the Epiphany-- Judge Manier finally and unilaterally--without the Appellate Court having to force her--decided to recuse herself! So she's off the ND 88 case.

This is a great victory for the ND 88! We've started out the New Year with a great blessing. Much thanks goes to the hard-working and dedicated attorneys who have taken up the cause of the ND 88!

Now we must pray very hard that the case will go to a judge who will understand what we did, make fair rulings and DISMISS the charges against us.
