THE GROUND SHOOK, BUT ALL IS WELL

George Offerman

I had nearly completed another post when the ground shook today.  Needless to say, it was a scary 30 + seconds, and rather intense, but all of us at my place of employment made it out safe.  we ended up being sent home early due to the fact our building is required by law to have an inspection prior to allowing the public back in for their healthcare needs.  I also expect I will be dealing with more than a few people who will have an increase in anxiety.

It was how I reacted that concerned me the most.  My first impulse was to not pray, but to want to run out of the building as soon as possible.  I was able to compose myself after a few seconds, and then said a quick prayer for the safety of the building and all of my colleagues and patients in our facility.  The shaking eventually stopped and we were able to process what had happened.  I think we will all have a different perspective on presuming everyting will be alright even when at work and having at least the perception it is a safe place.

Anyway, thanks to all who have shown their concern and for those who prayed for us.  We dodged a bullet today, and need to be thanking God for the severity of this quake, and really having minimal damage.  Praise be to God.

RON PAUL IS STILL BEING IGNORED BY THE PRO LIFERS

George Offerman

Of all the candidates in the Republican field, Ron Paul is the one who has been most consistent in his pressing for an end to legalized child killing.  Year after year, Dr. Paul has introduced a pro-life amendment, and in most years this amendment has not had any co-sponsors.  And this is from a party that claims to be pro-life.  Ron Paul also comes from a liberal district in Texas, but continues to win reelections by overwhelming majorities due to his constancy in legislation, as well as integrity shown in keeping his word on substantive matters.

As a physician, Dr. Paul understands clearly life begins at conception and he has been an undying and unashamed advocate for this position.  Unlike most in the pro-life movement, Dr. Paul makes no apologies for his positions, and takes a very tough line against those who dispute his position.  Dr. Paul confounds his opposition, due to the fact he comes from a stance that is backed by scientific knowledge and personal experiences, not some convoluted propaganda and emotional hysteria that the pro deathers position takes.  This is why he is unmercifully attacked by these groups.  Yet he is not defended by the pro-lifers.

I have been told by more than a few that Ron Paul has some ‘objectionable’ qualifications that would disqualify him from endorsements.  The largest, concerning the life issue, is Congressman Paul sees abortion as a state’s rights issue.  If anyone can remember their civics classes, any amendment adopted into the constitution needs passage by 75% of the states, so each state must have strong pro-life lobbies in them for this to happen.  Unless there is a pure ban passed through congress, or an overturn by the Supreme Court, the only way to end legalized child killing will be an amendment.

Here is the issue: none of the current candidates for the GOP has attempted to pass legislation as Ron Paul has, and no one has the consistent record Congressman Paul does on this issue.  The pro-life movement better get it through their noggins that it is those who have borne the brunt of battle, such as Congressman Paul that will give us the best chance of ending legalized child killing, not those who are pretenders and are pro-life in name only.  It is amazing how short the attention span is of the general pro-life movement, and how easily they can be conned by slick talking politicians and drink the same old Kool-Aid election after election.

Take Rick Perry for instance.  He is a former Democrat (maybe) who campaigned for Al Gore.  He is pro-gay marriage.  He also passed a very controversial law mandating all 6th grade girls be vaccinated with the controversial and supposed HPV preventative GARDASIL, even against parents’ wishes and religious beliefs.  He pushed through the very controversial construction of the Texas NAFTA Super highway, which has been linked to the North American Union proposal by the Trilateral Commission, as well as Bilderberg group.  Finally, Mr. Perry is a member of the Bilderbergers, and has attended several of their meetings over the previous years.  But this guy does one prayer breakfast and makes a few slick comments, and lo and behold; the pro-life movement is jumping all over this guy’s bandwagon as if he is the reinvention of sliced bread.  Really, is that all it takes to get the pro-life movement’s endorsement?  Just talk a good game, and you’re in?

It blows me away that the pro-life movement seems to never learn from their mistakes.  They lump all of the GOP candidates, minus Ron Paul into the same playing field, when there is absolutely no evidence these people will do what the pro-lifers are claiming, and that is to follow through with their so called ‘pledge’ to support legislation that protects babies.   The problem is that Ron Paul has done this every year, and has essentially been ‘iced out’ by the prolife movement.  So much for the consistency, and so much for the integrity of this movement.    It seems the prolife movement can’t see the trees from the forest.

This is one more instance in which the prolife movement shows its inability to win this war.  They will ice out the most prolific advocate for life and hook up with the latest harlot willing to sell his (or her) soul by advocating for some prayers and slick talking and its off and running with endorsements.  Shame, shame, shame on the prolife movement, if the charlatans of the GOP are eventually nominated to run and supposedly represent our cause.  Just don’t come crying to this corner when you get sold down the river.

IT'S TIME TO ACT

George Offerman

It seems over the past few years when I take two weeks off, things seem to happen.  This particular vacation, I was expecting to see major movements in the financial world, and my expectations were met, if not exceeded.  This was not unexpected, and the rumblings in the financial world are really at the beginning phase of an all out collapse.  I have been telling people for some years now, how by simply using mathematical principles taught in the 8th grade, anyone can come the conclusion that the only outcome from blatant money printing and institutionalized deficit spending is collapse.

Before I go on, I will point out once again, that this issue is not only linked to legalized child killing, it is the genesis of it.  Anyone who has ever done any sidewalk counseling knows the number one reason cited for killing children is lack of money.  The individual say it, planned parenthood says it, and even our government has alluded to this.  If we had fair and honest money, we would not be in the mess we are in.  But because we have a tendency to compartmentalize everything, we will continue to wander in the financial desert until we get the connection and do something about it.

Getting back to the issue, our debt in this country is increasing in a geometric progression.  Our productivity or ability to pay it back is at best increasing in an arithmetic progression, but more likely stagnating, if not actually regressing.  With this being the case, it is a MATHEMATICAL CERTAINTY there will be a crash, and this will usher in a need to reset the whole economic reality of this country.  Because the whole world is on a fiat based currency system, there is no historical precedent in which to refer to, so we are truly in ‘uncharted territory’ concerning the severity and duration of this reset.  There cannot be any other outcome at this time, and it is only a matter whether we have the gumption to pay now with great pain, or later with greater pain, plus interest and penalties.  But pay we will.

This is why both parties ‘caved’ on the debt limit ceiling.  Very few of these people are statesmen, and they don’t want to be known as the ones who caused the ‘greater depression’.  So they did what all previous congresses and presidents have: kicked the can down the road.  The problem is there is not much road left on Debt Avenue.  So, economically, we are treading water until the main event begins in earnest.

I have included a brief snippet from an author I am learning to really appreciate.  It discusses what children may learn from the current economic situation, but it also reflects rather accurately the behaviors of the average American.  This is taken from Simon Black’s article, and his writings can be found at:  www.sovereignman.com

I have to imagine that any child watching the goings-on of American politics would conclude that:

- debt is wealth
- living beyond your means is completely sustainable
- if anyone tells you otherwise, denounce their mathematical errors
- if at first you don't succeed, keep trying the same thing over and over
- working hard and saving money is bad
- spending money and not working is good
- if you have a problem, the government will bail you out
- people are entitled to things that they didn't work for
- no one should be held accountable for the consequences of the risks they take
- it's not illegal if the government does it
- despite what our eyes and ears tell us, inflation is not a concern
- everything is going to be OK simply because the government says so

The financial system is completely different than what it used to be, and the basic premises have been thrown out. The dollar is no longer stable. The US is no longer "risk free". The government is not there to help. The happy-go-lucky days of safely putting our savings in bank CDs and T-bills are gone for good.

http://silverbearcafe.com/private/08.11/piggybank.html

Two years ago, I discussed gold and silver for the first time on this site and mentioned how the majority of the pundits were trashing both metals, despite the increasing price for both over the past 8 years.  I also mentioned how there were a few people back then (just 2 years ago) that discussed $1,500 gold and $50 silver.  The majority of people back then did not imagine, nor believe these prices would be breached.  Just two years later, it has been done, and in the most recent few days, a few commentators in the arenas I read have discussed $20-25 K gold.  We haven’t even hit any type of hyper inflation, and the predicted numbers have grown ten fold in just 2 years.  These numbers would have been laughable to even the most strident of gold bugs, yet there are credible authors and gurus of these markets now openly making these claims.  (I can’t wait to see the numbers two years from now!)

This wouldn’t be happening if our economic troubles were improbable.  These numbers only make sense in an economic crash scenario, and it seems more and more of those who study these markets are coming to this conclusion.  We really are at the threshold of something catastrophic, and it is very important that people begin to see this.  It is time that we begin to act on what we know, and take actions that will be positive for ourselves and family.  Godl and silver will go to heights that no one can really believe at this time, but it will be common knowledge in short order, and many will have regrets they did not act on this information.

WHERE ARE WE HEADED AS A SOCIETY?

George Offerman

My wife and I had an opportunity to have breakfast last Saturday morning with the recently elevated Bishop Hying.  After having many good laughs and recollecting the many misadventures of seminary life, the conversation turned towards more serious topics, and we ended up on the topic of homosexual marriage, now legal in New York.  Bishop Hying knows Archbishop Dolan well, as Archbishop Dolan was in Milwaukee for several years prior to his move to the Archdiocese of New York.  We discussed the effect this law will have on the state, this country, and ultimately the church.

I totally agree with Bishop Hying’s assessment, that once the break in the sanctity of marriage is made, it will ultimately end up fragmenting society and the family.  We then discussed how it will affect Catholic social services, which now must make a decision about adoption policies, and whether most of these agencies will choose to shut down rather than cater to the homosexual contingency.  It seems the Bishops at the level of the USCCB are attempting to go after the ‘conscience clause’ as the point of attack, after having conceded the main fight of going after the original bill, or threatening excommunication of political leaders, such as governor Cuomo, who are claiming to be Catholic, but support such legislation.

We discussed how these issues ultimately are going to draw this society into a major conflict, in that people will need to have to choose sides, and it is more likely that Christians will find themselves on the wrong side of the law, and may be jailed for simply believing in what the Church teaches.  The bishop then went on to mention how this is reminiscent of the early church and how it seems we are ready to revisit these times.  Definitely a conversation that was too sobering for an early Saturday morning.

We then discussed the role of the church and what ultimately would need to happen.  It seems there is much timidity in the American Church, and there seems to be a lack of conviction in enforcing the teachings, especially to the wayward politicians who seem to stick their noses and fingers at the Church, and then believe they can continue on in good graces as if nothing happened.  There is a need for the hierarchy of this church to stand up to these people, and do what is right for the Church, as well as society and especially in the sight of God.

I left that breakfast with very mixed feelings.  I had feelings of hope, as this dear and holy friend of mine seems to have a good grasp of the issues, and is persuasive enough to gather others around him that will have the courage to make the necessary changes and stand up for the church.  I also left with some feelings of helplessness, realizing Bishop Hying has a much tougher job than I can even begin to imagine.  In many ways, I fear Bishop Hying may not have the support of those who need to create the tension necessary to make the changes and to make it very clear to these politicians and other Catholics, that they cannot participate fully in the church while holding these anti Catholic positions.

These are no easy tasks, but the end result is much scarier than taking a stand for what is right and being ostracized for it.  I will continue to pray for my friend, that he has the strength and courage of conviction to do the right thing, and begin leading the Church (to the extent possible) back to its roots.  Otherwise, I fear his words will be true: persecution will be around the corner.  We will not be able to speak against homosexuality and life issues, and we all will be seen as extremists that need to be dealt with in the harshest of ways.

ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE, AND I'M THE EXTREMIST?!?!

George Offerman

I and several family members spent the past two weeks on a vacation/mission in which we saw family and friends, but also spent time at an undisclosed location which we will hasten to when this collapse hits critical mass.  Prior to leaving, I received a call from a prominent local politician asking me to consider running for the open school board position in my community, which unfortunately became available due to the death of the man holding it.  I stated I wanted time to think about it and would get back to him.  This politician also informed me that he and others on his search committee had other people in mind and would get back to me if the committee decided on running any of these individuals prior to my return.  Needless to say, I heard back in about 14 days, and we began to discuss what we needed to do to get me onto the upcoming ballot.

I then mentioned my arrest at Notre Dame, and the tone of the conversation changed instantly.  I, in one second, went from a shoe in to ‘unelectable’, due to being an ‘extremist’.  And this is coming from a man who claims to be an undying pro lifer.  It seems with all the matters going on in the world, and all the hell breaking loose that someone who prayed peacefully on a campus, and was arrested for it, is now unfit to serve the local community on a school board.  According to this man, people like me ‘scare’ the average person, and God forbid, no one should have such strong beliefs on issues such as pro life that would ‘alienate’ the electorate.  I can’t say I was truly surprised, but I was significantly ticked off at what appears to be too much placation, and a ‘selling out’ of beliefs in order to get ‘elected’ and ‘serve with integrity’.

I promptly informed this man that the Republican party is not pro life and told him he knew this was true.  I then went over the history of this, with the many opportunities to get good Justices on the Supreme Court, as well as the opportunities during the Bush II years of having both chambers of Congress and the presidency to overturn Roe.  I also discussed the most recent sell out by Boehner and company with the Planned Parenthood fiasco.  I then asked him if these men ‘deserved’ to be re elected after their ‘selling out’ of the cause, and like most good politicians, I did not get a response.  I also informed him that there is no way in hell I would sell out my beliefs to get elected and that maybe it was, and is a good idea to find someone else to run.  But it is this exact position that continues to be at the root of the problem: we cannot be true believers and be in politics.

I am not saying I believe this, I am saying this is what is actually going on in politics today, and it was very emphasized to me on this local level.  I believe I would do very well as a school board member, and holding schools accountable is very necessary during these times.  It seems so many are condition into believing this that is has actually become a real stance taken by those in power, and perceived to be the truth.  It is such a shame that too many want to leave their beliefs ‘at the door’ when stepping into their political roles, and it demonstrates too well the idea of compartmentalization I’ve written about on many previous occasions.  It seems the masses want change, but change within the parameters of comfort and convenience, and ‘don’t press me into having to make difficult and morally correct decisions’.   This is why things are not getting better, and in fact are breaking into deeper and darker levels of hell with each progressing day.  How one can justify the status quo when all hell is breaking loose is beyond my ability to understand this level of insanity.

I told this politician that being a true Christian REQUIRES us to stand up for the unborn.  What I did at Notre Dame IS A MAINSTREAM Christian belief.  It is what we are all called to do, but it seems few are willing to listen and to do what is right.  Taken to a larger context, we can then postulate our way of life will change, as few will have the courage to stand up and do what is needed to change the course of destruction we have put ourselves and our country on.  This is why it is so easy to see we are going over the cliff while the majority still wants bread and circuses.  This is why when someone follows truth, he is seen as an extremist.  And this is why we as a nation will experience the amount of pain that is on its way and it will be unmerciful and long in duration.

THIS BS IS GETTING TOO DEEP

George Offerman

Soon we will have to break out the shovels to get through this entire BS landing all around us. The fight over raising the debt ceiling for this bankrupt nation, and all the lying and posturing by both parties and the clown in the White House is such a joke that it would be funny if it did not have such serious and negative ramifications. The fact that these idiots are posturing each other over doing the right thing is nauseating at best and treasonous at worst. They are betraying our country, and the banksters are the ones benefitting.

Let’s be real: the debt ceiling is going to be increased. There is no possible way these fools will allow, or are able to allow default on the debt at this point. It is inevitable default will occur, but not at this time. The fundamental underlying economic problems have not been addressed, nor will they in the near future. So borrowing more money to keep the current ‘lifestyle’ going for another round is necessary to keep the natives from revolting. What is dismaying is the numbers of people that want the party to continue despite the very negative ramifications that are being seen everywhere in the country.

What is even more dismaying is the lack of preparation by many who see things are wrong, but seem to believe these matters will resolve themselves magically. There is little to no urgency in either the political or personal arena as both politicians and most of the citizenry merely complain about this situation, but don’t do anything meaningful about resolving it. unfortunately, it will take an empty belly and living in the elements before the majority will wake up and understand the reality that all this fiscal irresponsibility has sown over the past several decades.

We have watched our way of life change before our eyes because it became too inconvenient and uncomfortable to fight against these forces. So it became easier to do little to nothing, and allow ourselves to be entertained, while also accepting the premise that we were entitled to the fruits of others labors (Thou shalt not steal). This deadly combination is the genesis of our problems, and since we have not repented of these evils, the consequences of our actions are now here, and pay we will.

In the meantime, we will, in a perverse twist of fate, be entertained by all the idiots pretending to be representatives of the people and watch how they will blame anyone but themselves, or of the nature of the nanny state in which too many want for too much in which they’ve earned none of, but fully expect the maximum of what they are ‘entitled’ to. The debt ceiling will be increased for sure. This showboating is nothing more than field dressing for the next campaign, similar to the ‘efforts’ to defund planned parenthood were a few months ago.

There is no intention to change anything about the current situation and anyone who is distracted by this crazy show will simply be further behind the 8 ball concerning any personal preparation. It ought to be obvious to the most simple among us that we truly are on our own concerning our safety and future. The average man and woman are not benefiting from any of these deals; the mega banks and Wall Street are and they are not sharing. The taxpayer, however, is given the bill and basically told to take a long walk off a short pier. In a corporate fascist world, it’s the way it always is, and our time is no exception. We can get caught up in the bread and circuses and be entertained, or we can act quickly and do what we need to do to secure at least some provisions for ourselves and families before it becomes impossible to do. The clock is ticking.

OUT OF THE WOODWORK

George Offerman

It has been very interesting to see the various reactions to the ‘not guilty’ verdict in the Casey Anthony trial. Many of these people are so furious with the jury, defense lawyers, prosecutor, and ultimately with Ms. Anthony that these people’s lives have been threatened. It seems that Ms. Anthony’s behaviors, particularly the partying lifestyle and the apparent ‘carefree’ attitude she had, knowing her child was buried in a swamp, is too much for the average American to take. The ‘thought’ of a mother being so callous towards her child’s death seems barbaric to these folks.

This comment from Stuart Fischoff senior editor at the Journal of Media psychology seems to typify the reaction of most people:

"This is scarier than the average murder case because there's a sacredness that we assign to motherhood," he said. "The idea that a mother could kill her child flies in the face of every archetypal notion we have. It's monstrous. And we're revolted by that, but we're also fascinated. And we want revenge."

Interestingly enough, legalized child killing does the exact same thing. A baby is brutally murdered, and most of those, whose parts are not sold to big pharmacy, or university programs, ends up in dumps and landfills. However, unlike Caylee Anthony, no one mourns for them, and the vast majority doesn’t want to hear about it. In fact the majority would rather look away, and not be bothered by this holocaust, and unfortunately this includes the Church, which continues to allow itself to be muzzled by the cursed 501 c 3 laws of the IRS.

It is also interesting that those who made verbal and physical threats towards Ms. Anthony and the jurors were not seen as ‘extremists’ or ‘religious fanatics’ or ‘domestic terrorists’, but seen as reasonable. If someone even dares speak up for the unborn, they are seen as all of the above and are condemned in the strongest of terms. As long as one is politically correct, it seems the can do whatever they want without any condemnation or reprove from mainstream society.

We then have the other side, in which a pro-lifer has been silently witnessing in front of killing mills and has spent more than 10 years in prison for her nonviolent witness. This is more than 3 times the amount of time served as someone who bound her child in duct tape and threw her body into a swamp. This is way more time served than someone who decided it was more important to party and enter a ‘hot body’ contest, and trashes her family in order to convince 12 people she is innocent. And these 12 people found her not guilty of a crime in which she minimally covered up a heinous crime. It’s too bad the unborn don’t receive the same treatment and passion that Caylee did.

A video depicting Linda Gibbons, the staunch Canadian pro-lifer who was recently released from a 28 month sentence for silently praying and witnessing against the child killers (a sentence 3 times longer than Casey Anthony will serve). Note her very prophetic and strong words that clarify the moral gravity of legalized child killing.

“A Christian interviewer made a statement to me that while in prison, I missed a lot of birthdays and family get togethers, and I told him, as Christians we cannot live ‘normally’ with abortion in our midst, that we must challenge the assumption that Canada is comfortable with abortion, comfortable with the death culture and maybe soon our culture will become comfortable with the death culture in their push for euthanasia.”

So, here is how our very confused culture has it: the blatant murder of post born babies brings outrage against a mother, while murdering a pre born baby brings outrage against those who would dare to defend the babies. It is no wonder that we are in such a moral morass we are in. It seems we are on a collision course with judgment and too many are asleep at the wheel. We need to have the same moral outrage with legalized child killing as the tragedy of Caylee Anthony. God help us if we don’t show this and change our laws.
